Candidates must fulfill the following criteria to be eligible for SSC Stenographer 2023:
Educational Qualification
Candidates should have passed at least 12th grade from a recognized Board or University. They must be able to produce the required documents for verification after qualifying the SSC Stenographer 2023 Exam.

SSC Stenographer 2023, Exam Pattern
The SSC Stenographer 2023 examination consists of two different levels: the Computer Based Examination (CBE) for Grade C and D and the Skill Test in Stenography.
Computer Based Examination (CBE) Pattern:
- General Awareness: 50 Questions, 50 Marks
- General Intelligence and Reasoning: 50 Questions, 50 Marks
- English Language and Comprehension: 100 Questions, 100 Marks
The total marks for the CBE are 200, and candidates have 2 hours to complete the exam.
Important Points:
- The question paper will be of Objective Type Multiple Choice in Hindi and English, except for Part III.
- There will be a negative marking of ⅓rd marks for each wrong answer.
- Marks scored by candidates in the CBE, if conducted in multiple shifts, will be normalized for final merit determination.
Skill Test in Stenography
Candidates who qualify the CBE will be called for the Skill Test. The Skill Test will be of qualifying nature, and the Commission will fix the qualifying standards for different categories of candidates.
The candidates will have to appear for the Skill Test in Stenography, which will consist of transcribing a given dictation in English/Hindi at the speed of 100 words per minute (w.p.m) for Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and 80 w.p.m. for Stenographer Grade ‘D’.

- Stenographer Grade ‘D’ English: 50 minutes (70 minutes for candidates allowed to use a scribe)
- Stenographer Grade ‘D’ Hindi: 65 minutes (90 minutes for candidates allowed to use a scribe)
